This onsen (hot spring) is popular due to the rare quality and potency of its spring water. The murky gold spring water is used for the two types of hot spring baths available: rock baths and cypress baths. In order to enhance its carbonate potency, the temperature of the spring water is kept at a fairly low temperature of between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius. The excellent home-style dishes cooked by the local housewives are a secret of this onsen’s popularity.
